What Is The Boarded Window?

The Boarded Window is a Breathless survival horror game. It is designed to be played in one session or one sitting. Players take on the role of survivors working together to survive the night and the beast that lurks outside the cabin. Take on the role of a hunter, farmer, physician, carpenter, or a custom background, each with their own unique strength to aid fellow survivors. Complication and loot tables are there to help fill in the world, and inspire new ideas.

What Inspired the Theme?

This is a Breathless survival horror game that I created for the  Winter Horrorland TTRPG Jam 2024 hosted by Rayney Day Games. 

The setting, art, and atmosphere was inspired by the short story by the same name, “The Boarded Window” by Ambrose Bierce, which was published in 1891. This story was again published between 1891-1892 within Bierce’s collection of short stories titled “Tales of Soldiers and Civilians,” which is in the public domain.
